2 Alternatives to PPC Search Engine
2 Alternatives to PPC Search Engine By Daniel D Dwase...

There are so many conflicting opinions when it comes to the subject of traffic building. Some webmasters swear by advertising in pay per click search engines such as Google Adwords, Yahoo Search Marketing, and others like BidVertiser.
After all, pay per click sounds good you don't pay anything unless someone clicks your ad. They don't click; you don't pay. But does it really save you advertising cost in the long run? How much traffic will it really bring to your site?
|
Gone are the days of paying a flat rate in advance to airing an ad. A ppc search engine give you an option to pre-pay if you'd like, or you could wait until the end of the month.
They even allow you to set your budget so that you don't end up spending more than you can afford.
But what they won't tell you, is that if you have a very small budget, pay per click advertising services really will only bring in a small number of visitors to your site.
Most people turn to internet business because they recognize the benefits of low startup costs and don't really have a huge budget for traffic building.
So, let's say that you've designated and pre-paid $25 (£16) for a month of Google Adwords pay per click advertising. How much traffic would you expect to generate?
Not very much at all if you consider that some clicks can cost between $2 - $3 (£1.24 - £1.86) that's for one click. That's one visitor who might just glance at your site and keep on pushing.
So for $25 (£16), you will probably only generate around 12 15 new visitors for the month. You're probably already bringing in numbers like that for free! If you want more visitors you'll have to dish out more money - money you really can't afford if you're just starting out.
Pay per click advertising may not be very realistic for newbies or small businesses - instead I suggest that you exhaust all of the free traffic building methods before even considering services from a ppc search engine.
Instead of relying on a ppc search engine you could try these two alternatives:
1. Submit a press release on Free-Press-Release.com. Choose a catchy headline that creates some kind of urgency for your title.
This site offers a totally free press release service, but for $1 (£0.62p), you can upgrade to "Premiere" service that allows you to leave a link back to your site and gives you more exposure. (See "How to Write a Free Press Release")
Insider tip: If you place a link on your site promoting their services, you can receive up to $10 (£6.22) to use on their site - that's 10 free press releases!
2. Viral Marketing. No, this has nothing to do with computer viruses! Viral marketing - a product, ebook, video (See "Viral Video Marketing: How YouTube can Help Increase Your Website Traffic"), widget, etc. that is so interesting that people willingly pass it along from person to person.
Do you remember those wonderful "FW: FW: FW: Gotta Read This Send to 10 People or Something Bad Will Happen Tonight!" emails people used to send around like idiots?
Viral marketing is like that - only better because there are no threats. You can create an ebook that offers useful information that your potential customers will want to read and pass along.
Important: Add this traffic building component - place in-text links to your site or products in relevant contexts throughout the ebook. If you're an affiliate marketer you can plug in your affiliate links.
Offer this ebook on your site for free in exchange for email addresses (increase your mailing list for follow up sales).
Or you could charge a reasonable price, but offer resell rights so that your buyers can make a profit and will be encouraged to promote and pass it along.
As your book circulates, so will traffic building links to your site.
These are just two alternatives to pay per click advertising that could bring you loads of traffic without ever paying a cent.
Don't get discouraged if you experience a slump in website traffic. Traffic building is a recurring task that takes time and effort. Keep at it and before you know it you will be getting paid per click, not the other way around.
