Increase Website Traffic with Article Marketing & Directory Submissions

Use this search feature to quickly find information you're looking for!

By Daniel D Dwase

Article marketing can be a very effective web site traffic building strategy. Thousands of people look for articles in ezines and other article directories when they are looking for information or need some extra content for their website.

If they like what theyÕve read or want to find out more they'll click the link to your site if you've provided one... make sure that you do this... and soon you'll have a new and completely free visitor to your site.

Ezinearticles, Goarticles, and Sooperarticles are probably a few of the most popular article directories, but there are a ton more.

You can submit articles like the ones you've already posted to your site on these article directories and soon you'll be introduced to a new batch of visitors within the first few days after your article has been published.

This increase in website traffic is usually short term, but if you diligently submit a steady stream of 2 - 3 articles a week... more if you can... to several ezine article directories, you could potentially drive, not just any traffic, but targeted website traffic to your site over and over again.

Of course some article directories have more reliable website traffic than others. Ezinearticles is probably the most trafficked article directory and Sooperarticles is not far off, but I encourage you to do some research of your own because things are always changing on the internet.

Article Marketing Tip #1:

Be sure to check submission guidelines for each article directory. Most sites will accept articles you've submitted on other sites, but some sites prefer original articles.

This means you can't even post the article on your own site (although, you can place a link to the article on your site).

Some article directories allow you to place links to your site, products, services, and even affiliate links in the body of the article while others won't approve articles with any outgoing links.

However, almost all article directories will let you place a link to your site in the author's resource box and this will potentially increase website traffic.

Article Marketing Tip #2:

You'll want to submit your articles to as many directories as possible. I suggest that you make some minor changes to each submission to add some variety.

If your articles concern some aspect of internet business or affiliate marketing, AssociatePrograms.com has a very high volume of website traffic and articles get far more exposure.

This high level of exposure comes at only one cost - they only accept original articles, but the benefits outweigh this minor catch. The potential spike in website traffic is well worth the exclusivity they ask for.

How-to sites are popping up on the internet and are even offering to share all or a portion of Google Adsense revenue with their writers.

So in addition to the exposure you could gain from writing for these sites, you could potentially create another stream of income.

The benefits are two-fold: potential increase in website traffic and earnings. Currently, Howhub.com is paying 50% (100% if you can refer 10 people who sign up).

Another how-to site, eHow.com, is also offering a Writer's Compensation Program.

Article Marketing Tip #3:

No matter which article directories you decide to submit to, be sure to create an eye-catching author bio or profile that briefly highlights your experience and/or expertise and always include a link back to your site whenever it is allowed.

Here are some links to ezines and article directories to get you started to increase website traffic:

Article Marketing Dos and Don'ts:

Don't forget to do some research of your own - you may discover a site that will better meet your unique needs.

Do remember to check each site's submission guidelines to avoid wasting valuable time and energy.

Do make article marketing a continuous part of your website building efforts to increase website traffic.
