How to Generate More Inbound Links
By Daniel D Dwase...

The benefit of increasing inbound links to your site is three-fold. First, it signals to search engines that you've got a valuable website since there are other sites linked to it.
So the more links from other sites to your site, the higher your search engine rank.
The second benefit, is increased findability. It makes it easier to find your site - in fact you might be able to borrow rank from the site you are linked to and have your website found on first page results of a related keyword search.
Thirdly, inbound links ultimately increase the flow of website traffic to your site. The more links you have out there, the more it will be available for people to click.
So how do you generate more inbound-links? Try the following suggestions.
Participate in Value Exchange
SiteSell has one of the best link exchanges. They offer a free link exchange service that actually features quality sites.
If you register for their service, they'll use the description you supply for your site to generate related site matches that you might want to link to.
You have the option of viewing and browsing these sites before making a decision about requesting the owner to exchange links with you.
Even better, they've provided a format and email for you to make the request. The service generates a personalized request letter that they email to the site owner for you.
If they accept your request they'll specify a URL where they'll place your link and you'll send them one, too.
Not only can you increase your link popularity and increase your search engine ranking this way, you cash in on the free traffic you could generate from having your link on a high traffic site.
Links from Article Marketing
This is another way to create more links to your site. This will only work if you make sure to include your link either in the article or the author's bio.
Submit to as many article directories as possible. Read "Increase Website Traffic With Article Marketing & Directory Submissions" for a starter list and techniques.
Some of these sites allow their visitors to republish your articles on their websites; giving you even more opportunities to generate more inbound links and website traffic.
The articles still belong to you so you can report abusers if they fail to give you credit for writing the article.
Links from Blog and Website Comments
Don't underestimate the power of submitting insightful comments on other high traffic websites/blogs.
How will you know if it's a high traffic website/blog? Use Alexa's ranking software. It's a Firefox add-on tool that instantly gives site-ranking stats at the bottom of your screen when you visit a site.
The smaller the rank number, the more likely you've found a high traffic site. If you're not familiar with website ranking and you think a site-rank of 1247 is bad - consider the fact that there are billions maybe even trillions of websites on the World Wide Web.
So when you stumble upon a site that has a 4, 5 or even 6-digit ranking, don't get discouraged.
The goal right now is to get more inbound links out there, but you'll be pleasantly surprised when you accidentally bring in some nice website traffic from your comments, too.
