A Few Things to Consider Before You Buy Web Traffic

Use this search feature to quickly find information you're looking for!

By Daniel D Dwase

Buying web traffic is a technique which has often been debated for its variance in terms of performance.

While lots of companies still offer programs to boost your web traffic in a matter of just couple of weeks, some of them have been found to be involved in 'Click Fraud'.

However, even if a company promises you to offer a great volume of traffic through their program, does it really offer quality traffic that converts?

Well, more often than not, this is a key question that should come to mind before you plan to buy web traffic for your website.

How Do "Paid Web Traffic" Services Work?

Many paid web traffic service providers claim that they offer genuine, targeted and relevant web traffic by engaging in 'Contextual Advertising'.

A Few Things to Consider Before You Buy Web Traffic

Contextual advertising is, as they explain, a method of placing your ads across their advertising networks and positioning them on the most relevant pages with regard to your specific business category.

As a part of the process, you need to provide them with your relevant business category and targeted keywords while ordering their services.

Since these services cost much less than other paid online marketing forms such as Pay per Click (PPC), many start-up websites cannot resist these offers.

Does it Really Work?

If you are a start-up website looking to boost a large volume of traffic right from the word go, make sure you make an informed decision before you buy web traffic from any traffic provider.

For a starter, there is no official study that establishes the relationship between increased traffic from buying web traffic and a boost in online sales.

Hence, if you consider Paid Web Traffic services as an individual strategy to generate traffic to your website, you might be risking your online business big time.

However, many paid web traffic service providers will want you to believe that more traffic means higher chances of conversion, which is a highly fallacious c onclusion.

Many traffic providers often engage in one or more of the following unscrupulous practices:

  • Sending irrelevant traffic to your website by misdirecting Internet users.
  • Paying people to visit your website.
  • Using computer programs that visit your website pretending to be actual traffic visit.

In a nutshell, many will send traffic to your website that simply doesn't convert for your business.

That said, nobody would be interested in spending money to get "simply" visitors regardless of it volumes.

Hence, it is very important to be careful while choosing a traffic provider to buy web traffic from. Many websites refrain from buying web traffic for the above reasons.

Why You Shouldn't Buy Web Traffic

Investing in a paid web traffic program is more like gambling.

Although the sites that you pay for a certain number of visitors promise you to send traffic, you need to judge the actual benefit of your site from the number of hits that you get.

Traffic Scams

With thousands of websites offering services on increasing traffic to a website, many webmasters pick the option to drive instant visitors for their business.

Traffic resellers and some marketers agree on a specific amount of money for a specific number of clicks to the website for a specific time period.

The resellers either redirect the traffic from another website or provide options to the visitors to click on the links to your site.

But there are numerous scams involved with this process. Although this process can increase the number of hits to your website, it is difficult to discover whether the visitors are genuine human visitors or bots.

If it was so easy to get visitors and boost the conversion rate of your website, why would people try hard to find visibility in search engines?

Irrelevant Traffic

The major consideration of buying web traffic is getting human visitors. Even if you get human visitors to your site, it is difficult to find out whether these visitors are relevant.

Often, it has been found that paid visitors are waylaid to a site by affiliates. Websites supplying traffic to your site often use spammy techniques to get visitors or pay them to visit your site for certain duration.

Others use their expired domain to redirect visitors that come to their site. In such a scenario, it is difficult to expect good conversion rate from visitors that are not relevant and have been misdirected to your site.

Low Return on Investment

Many consider paid web traffic services as a waste of money since paid visitors are irrelevant and do not convert well.

Worse, promoting your website to irrelevant audience may lead to negative publicity which can backfire. Either way, it doesn't pay to buy web traffic.
