How To Attract Blog Traffic
| |
|
You've spent hours... or even days... creating the perfect blog.
You've thoughtfully chosen your niche and you've monetized your site with Google Ads, you've joined the Amazon.com affiliate program and have carefully picked some items to promote on your blog.
You may have even gone all out and written some great content with in-text affiliate links strategically placed throughout and now you're ready to use your blog to make some money.
Now what? Are you passively sitting around waiting for traffic to trickle onto your blog? Well, that's not going to work. You're going to have to generate some traffic to your blog, but how exactly will you go about it?
The first thing people will tell you, is to join some social networking and bookmarking sites, like MySpace, FaceBook, Twitter and TagFoot.
These are great ways to generate some blog traffic, but if you're not careful, you could end up wasting a lot of time socializing with people who have no interest whatsoever in your niche.

So what to do? Carefully choose your friends, followers, or whatever they're called at the particular site.
Read their profile. Do they seem like people who might be interested in your blog topic?
Search these people out with the search tools that are available at that site and follow their blog and befriend them.
You've got some friends, now what? Well, you'll have to actually check out their blog if you want them to check out yours.
But there's a benefit to checking out their blog - by reading and thoughtfully commenting on their posts, you could possible steal... I mean borrow visitors from their blog traffic.
If you've written a post that makes a suggestion or points out something the owner may have overlooked, you could compel visitors to click your link and visit your blog.
Try this on popular high traffic blogs and see how well this works. But whatever you do - don't spam! Everybody hates spam.
Not sure if your message is spam? If your comment looks like this: "Hey, great site, check out my blog at..." or "Want to discover a new weight loss secret?" Yeah, that's spam! Don't do it!
Another way to get more blog traffic:
|
Submit your blog to as many free blog directories as possible. Don't forget to amply describe your blog and select the right key words/phrases.
This distinguishes your blog and makes it easier to sift through the large volume of related blogs.
Also, take the time to create an interesting profile and remember to include a photograph of yourself (a real and recent picture).
Pictures make profiles more interesting. If you haven't already added a picture of yourself to your blog, now's the time!
Drum up some traffic by submitting to these free blog directories:
Try these sites, but don't stop there, do some research and see how many more you can find.
You could also join a "Blog Roll" related to your niche. Most of these have a social component, so check out some other blogs, follow some bloggers, make some friends, post some comments, and borrow some blog traffic!
